If you want to plan day trips from Split, you have landed on the right article ! I’ll suggest 3 places worth visiting if you are spending a few days in Croatia. From the charming town of Hvar to the harbour of Trogir, including the Krka National Park, here are some of the best spots to explore!
Hvar is a small island not far from Split, with a beautiful old town. You can hike to the Fortica Fortress to get stunning panoramic views :

Take some time to stroll along the charming old port or visit St Stephen’s Cathedral :

How to go : You can take a ferry, it takes around an hour to get to Hvar and it costs around 25€. Second option is to book a speedboat day trip on GetYourGuide or any local agency in Split. This solution is more expensive but you can visit as well Vís island, the Blue Lagoon and the caves. Plus the boat trip is beautiful :

Travel Tip : You can make a pit stop at Vís island, with its untouched charm and stunning coast, it is a nice place to spend a few hours on your way to Hvar.

Trogir is a medieval town located on a small island connected to the mainland by bridges. This UNESCO World Heritage site is perfect for a day trip from Split. You can visit the Cathedral of St. Lawrence and hike to the Kamerlengo Fortress for a wonderful view, or simply wander in the cobblestone street and admire the Venetian architecture.
How to go : You can take a bus (Flixbus 896, but others will also take you there, just heat to Split station here), the journey takes around 30 minutes and tickets cost 4,5€.

Omiš is a small coastal town located at the mouth of the Cetina River and surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
You can hike to the fortresses of Mirabella and Fortica for panoramic views over the sea.

Of course, a walk along the beach at sunset is a must :

How to go : You can take a bus (Flixbus 988, but others will also take you there, just heat to Split station here), the journey takes around 30-45 minutes and tickets cost 6€.
If you want to spend the night, look for the small village of Marušići. This place is a true peace haven :

Krka National Park is a stunning nature spot with stunning cascading waterfalls. There is a wooden walkway taking you through ponds and waterfalls while being under the trees.

The most famous one is Skradinski Buk and you can see why :

I would suggest to venture off the main path to enjoy the National Park further away from the tourist crowds for a more enjoyable experience, especially if you are visiting during the summer months.
After exploring the park, you will probably take a boat down the river to reach the town of Skradin, where the buses taking you back to Split will be waiting. While being there, you can hike up to the fortress called Utvrda Turina, the view will be worth it !

Also in the National park, the beautiful Roški Waterfall and Visovac Island, home to a Franciscan monastery.
How to go : Two solutions : you can either take a bus early morning, the journey takes around 2h45 and cost 8-12€. Or you can book a day trip, you will be in small groups and the journey will be in a minivan, so it will be faster and a bit more pleasant. First option gives you more autonomy, second one more comfort, you decide !
Entrance Fee: Prices will vary depending on the season, from July to August the entrance to the national park will cost 40€, from November to March it is 7€ and for all months in between it is 20€.
Opening Hours: It depends on the season : from June to September it is open from 8am to 8pm, from November to March it closes at 4pm and at 6pm for all months in between
Travel Tips : I would suggest visiting in Spring or Autumn to enjoy it without the high fees, tourist crowds and high temperature. Definitely arrive early to avoid the crowds, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Note also that swimming is no longer allowed in the waterfalls.
