Boat day in Corfu

If you are looking for a great day trip when visiting Corfu, consider doing a boat day to Palaiokastritsa and Ermones areas ! You will get to discover the Blue Eye Cave, explore hidden beaches, see the impressive rock formations and much more.

HOW TO BOOK a BOAT tour ?

The easiest way and what I would recommend is to look for local boat tours on Google Maps. We chose to go with Michael as we wanted an affordable private boat tour. You can also contact his friend Spyros if you want a bigger and more confortable boat, but more pricey of course.

It is way more flexible than a group tour, you can choose at what time to start the boat tour and Michael will show you the best spots around !

We paid less than 100€ for a private boat tour for two people, which is a steal in Palaiokastritsa area !

Here are Michael and Spyros phone numbers if you want to book a tour, I can only recommend them, they have been really nice and helpful :

WHAT TO BRING ?

First thing to think of is some cash to pay the captain.

Definitely bring sunscreen and water, as it gets hot from the first hours of the day until sundown. Of course, don’t forget your swimsuit, beach towel and sunglasses, but also a pair of water shoes for walking on the pebbles and in the sea.

You can bring a picnic if you plan to make a long stop at a beach. Michael can drop you off at a beach for a couple hours or more, so you can definitely have time to enjoy a lunch break.

HOW THE DAY UNFOLDS ?

You will meet Michael and his boat at Alipa Port in Palaiokastritsa.

The journey starts with a one-hour boat trip to see some caves and cliffs. The decor is absolutely gorgeous and the water is incredibly turquoise and crystal clear :

You will enter in many sea caves (such as Nausica Cave or Agios Nikolaos Cave), where you will be able to admire the rock formations for real close :

You will also see the famous “Paradise Beach”, officially called Chomi Beach :

Boats don’t really make a stop on the beach at this one, as the rocks above are quite fragile and can fall down at any time.

We did however, stop at an other deserted beach, and just as beautiful :

After this first tour, you can stop at the incredible Limni Beach (or another one of your liking). It is a unique and secluded spot that feels like a secret hideaway. Like Porto Timoni, it’s a narrow strip of sand, bordered by crystal-clear waters on both sides.

We stopped for 2 hours and then Michael came back to take us see the Blue Eye cave.

Also called Blue Eye Grotto, it is a stunning sea cave getting its name from the mesmerizing blue color of the water inside, which is created by the way sunlight filters through the cave’s entrance and reflects off the white sand and limestone rocks below :

We then continued to see La Grotta, a bar built into the rocks along the coastline, offering stunning views of the surrounding sea and dramatic rock formations. This unique location adds to the bar’s charm, making it a popular spot.

The surroundings are also quite beautiful with countless cypress trees, cliffs, and umbrella pines :

And that concludes this breathtaking and relaxing private boat tour we did in Corfu !

FINAL THOUGHTS

I would definitely recommend booking a boat tour if you are coming to Corfu. You will see incredible landscapes you cannot see otherwise.

A private tour really makes a difference, as you can spend the time how you want it (for example we decided to stop for two hours at Limni Beach).

Michael was a really good captain and the tour was really well organised.
