And of course, I saved my favorite one for the end.

Let’s dive in and find your favorite Parisian park!

In summary

  • Jardin des Tuileries
  • Jardin des Plantes
  • Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
  • Jardin du Luxembourg
  • Parc Monceau

Jardin des Tuileries

Jardin des Tuileries is an historic garden with sculptures, fountains, and tree-lined wide walkways at the very center of Paris.

Location : In the 1st arrondissement, between Place De La Concorde and The Louvre.

Opening hours : Everyday from 7am to 9pm.

Good for : Perfect for a stroll while soaking up the classic French charm, and for a break from the busy places nearby.

Jardin des Plantes

The Jardin des Plantes is Paris’s main botanical garden, with stunning old greenhouses and the National Museum of Natural History.

Location : In the 5th arrondissement, along the Seine.

Opening hours : Everyday from 7:30am to 8pm.

Good for : There aren’t many benches in this park, so I’d say this park is perfect for stroll in a beautiful setting and also for a cultural outing.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Buttes-Chaumont is truly a unique park with its cliffs, suspension bridge, and small island with a kiosk at the very top. By the way, if you get all the way up, you will enjoy stunning views over Paris.

Location : In the 19th arrondissement.

Opening hours : Everyday from 7am to 9pm.

Good for : The scenery, the unique decor, the view !

Jardin du Luxembourg

Jardin du Luxembourg is a favorite among Parisians (and myself !). With its pond and mini sailboats to rent, the green chairs, the tree-lined paths, the beautiful monument, it has everything of an elegant French garden.

Location : In the 6th arrondissement, in the heart of the Latin Quarter.

Opening hours : Everyday from 7:30am to 9pm in summer (check out this website for the closing hours during other months of the year).

Good for : A Sunday with kids around the pond, sunbathing on the green chairs or having lunch in a relaxing garden.

Parc Monceau

Finally, my favourite one, Parc Monceau. This one feels like a hidden gem with its oval-shaped basin bordered by a colonnade, marble statues of French writers and musicians, and a rotunda. A romantic atmosphere reigns in this park located in one of Paris’s most elegant neighbourhoods.

Location : In the 8th arrondissement.

Opening hours : Everyday from 7am to 10 pm (until 9pm in September, and 8pm in October).

Good for : This little oasis is perfect for a quiet break, like enjoying a lunch or one of the best cookies in Paris, or even to read a book under a tree.

Paris may be known for its grand boulevards and iconic landmarks, but its green spaces offer just as much : whether you’re strolling through the elegant Parc du Luxembourg, discovering exotic plants at the Jardin des Plantes, or admiring the city views from Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, each park has its charm.

That’s it for my recommendations on the best parks in Paris. We had a wonderful time wandering and enjoying the sun in all of them, and I’m sure you will too !
