If you are coming to Marrakesh, you will want to spend a morning in Jardin Majorelle.
This garden is one of Marrakech’s most enchanting spots, with its vibrant colours and lush greenery.
Here’s how to prepare your visit and what you can expect from those stunning gardens.
One thing you should know : Jardin Majorelle will always be busy.
The best times to come are the first slot available in the morning. You will get to experience it with less of a crowd. We also got to experience two different weather because it was a bit foggy in the early morning and then the sun came out. It gave us two very different atmospheres, both amazing.
My biggest advice : book your tickets in advance on their website : E-Ticket – JARDIN MAJORELLE
The earliest slot is 8am and there will already be quite a few people.
The price is 15€ for adults and 7,5€ for students.
Le Jardin Majorelle is a one-hectare botanic garden, including an Art Déco villa and a museum about the History of the berbers.
The garden has the name of its founder, Jacques Majorelle, a French painter who created it in 1931. The garden was then bought in 1980 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé to save it from desctruction. Nowadays it belongs to the Foundation Jardin Majorelle (which includes the YSL museum as well).
Le Jardin Majorelle is considered the second most beautiful garden in the world, after Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
When you visit it, you’ll see it’s divided into 2 main parts.
The first one, with the Art Deco villa, the Boutique and Berber museum.
You first enter to a beautiful small pond and lots of palm trees. It really sets the atmosphere of the place : peaceful.

You will follow a small path all along the gardens, leading you to covered passages, plants alleyways, fountains…

Then you finally arrive to the beautiful villa with that intense blue and yellow paint.

This is also where you will find the Berber museum and the Boutique. We fell in love with beautiful posters and postcards in the shop. They are copys of greeting card created by YSL for his family and friends. He made those each year between 1970 and 2007.

After exiting the Villa area, you can go see a completly different area across the garden.
This second part has a huge pond, and more plants, mainly cacti.

The gardens are a bit of a maze, so make sure to take the time to see every corner, as every place in this garden is worth the detour.
To end the tour, you can stop by the Café, which is true to the colors of the Villa.

When you exit the Jardin Majorelle, you have the opportunity to go visit the YSL Museum as well. We didn’t as we prefered to do outdoors activities but here’s what it looks like from the outside after following that exit door below :
